I might as well start a weekly tradition right here, right now in starting off this post with the phrase, “BEST SHOW EVER.” Every week, it just keeps getting better and better. I love it. I know you already know that, but that’s not gonna stop me from saying it. So get used to it, people.
You know it’s been a particularly good episode when I can barely decipher my own handwriting on the notes that I frantically scribbled throughout the episode. I just get so darn excited, that all the words start to blur together and w’s look like v’s or u’s or n’s and so on.
Anyway, Stefan gives Elena a fresh supply of vervain (you know, after she so hastily tore off the necklace a couple episodes back) for her and her friends and family. Stefan wants to protect as many people as possible, now that there’s a new vampire in town. Hoodie Vamp turns up on the Gilberts’ doorstep with a pizza and Jeremy invites him in. Now, here’s my question: how did Hoodie Vamp know that they had ordered a pizza? (more…)

Season 1, Episode 11
Original airdate: 1/21/10

So, after two looooong months without our weekly Stefan/Damon/Elena fix, this week’s episode picks up right where we left off. Elena realized (after some hot sexy vampire lovin’) that she looks just like Katherine, she runs out of the house, leaving her vervain necklace behind, she hits someone in the road, and flips her car. This person that she hit is most certainly a vampire because he straightens himself out and starts advancing on poor Elena stuck upside down in her poor smashed-up car. We can’t see who it is, but whoever it is disappears when he realizes Damon’s coming. And that’s the last we see of Mr. Mysterious Vampire Dude this whole episode. I wonder who he is and what he wants. Could it be Alaric? The show is sure trying to make us think Alaric’s a vampire, what with the “I can’t find my ring!” and all that, but I dunno. I feel like that’s an intentional misdirection. I’m still going with my gut feeling that Alaric’s a vampire-slayer-type-dude. (more…)

That happens in the books, but the show has decided to take a storyline detour. Sorry, folks!
BUT the love triangle will become full-fledged as Damon and Elena get some alone time in upcoming episodes!
Also, The O.C. actress Melinda Clarke will be joining the show as Matt and Vicki’s mom!
Only a week and a half before The Vampire Diaries is back….

Yup, the fabulous L Word actress will join the cast of The Vampire Diaries as Alaric’s wife. Here’s the twist, though– she’s only going to appear in flashbacks because her character is already dead. And Alaric’s out for revenge against her killer. Whom, I’m guessing, is either Damon or Stefan. Why does Mia Kirshner always end up with these storylines? I’m having “Who killed Jenny Schecter?” flashbacks here. Read the E!Online article here.

This is the last new Vampire Diaries episode for TWO MONTHS! WTF, CW? What am I going to do for the remainder of 2009 and the start of 2010 without my weekly Stefan and Damon fix? I’ll probably just go see New Moon in the theater about a hundred times (starting tonight at 12:01am… can’t freaking wait!).
So what happens in the final Vampire Diaries episode of 2009? Well, as we already know, Logan’s back. He’s a newly turned vampire who can’t stop killing people. He also can’t get into his own house because he lived alone and there’s no one there to invite him in, which is pretty hilarious. He goes to Jenna’s house, but she won’t invite him in. Smart woman. Bonnie has a crazy dream where Emily brings her to the old church in the cemetery and says, “Please help me.” Then Bonnie wakes up in the cemetery. What does Emily need help with? Is Emily a good guy or a bad guy? We don’t know yet, but what we do know is that Bonnie’s not very happy all this is happening to her. Damon tells Bonnie he knows all about Emily and that he is going to get the crystal back because “a deal’s a deal.” Hmmm, I wonder what deal he and Emily made. (more…)

Season 1, Episode 8: “162 Candles”
Original airdate: 11/5/09

You already know I adore this show. I make no secret of that fact. However, this week, I realized that there is one thing about The Vampire Diaries that I am not sure I like. I think they kill off people too quickly. They’re screwing themselves out of potentially awesome storylines by cutting major characters out of the show before their time. They killed off Vicki before she had the chance to do any real damage as a vampire or even encounter trouble over the whole not-being-able-to-go-out-in-the-daytime thing. They killed off Logan before anything could happen with him and Jenna. And, this week, they managed to introduce and kill off a totally awesome character in the span of just one episode. (more…)

Ahhhh! This episode was so good. It’s Halloween and Vicki is a newly minted vampire. Everyone’s been looking for her for days—everyone except Stefan, Damon, and Elena, that is. They know where she’s been. She’s been at casa Salvatore learning the vampire ways. Stefan has been trying to make her into a “good” vampire—the kind that behaves and only drinks animal blood. Damon, on the other hand, has been trying to make her into his kind of vamp—which, of course, is the way Vicki wants to go, ‘cause it’s way more fun. (more…)

In her interview with TV Guide, Katerina Graham reveals some interesting tidbits. I had a feeling Catherine’s maid was a more important character than they’ve let on!!! Read the interview here.

Ok, seriously, how good was that episode. It’s times like these that I wish I was actually watching the series a year from now, after the DVD’s have come out, so I can pop the next disc in right away and find out what happens! I’m officially addicted to The Vampire Diaries. You know you are, too. Just admit it. (more…)

The Vampire Diaries press photo
Damon has been locked in the basement with the vervain and no blood for three days now. He’s not doing so well, and Stefan explains, for the television viewing audience’s benefit, because surely Damon is already aware, what will happen to him as time goes on. Basically, it’s a lot of gross mummifying-ness. Damon still has some energy left at this point, though, so he uses some of it to attack Zach. Stefan gets there just in the nick of time, however, and saves Zach… for now. (more…)

Season 1, Episode 4
Original airdate: 10/1/09

Stefan wakes up from a nightmare involving Elena and Damon that Damon planted in his head. Stefan really needs some human blood if he want to resist Damon’s tricks. He should totally just tell Elena that he’s a vampire and then just periodically feed on her. See, problem solved. He’s going to have to tell her soon enough anyway, because every time they start to get it on, his face gets all veiny. She’ll find out something’s up soon enough. (more…)

Season 1, Episode 3
Original airdate: 9/24/09

Ooh, more differences between Twilight and “The Vampire Diaries!” On “Diaries,” the vampires have fangs (I probably should have noticed this earlier, but I didn’t), they apparently aren’t super-cold (otherwise I feel like Elena would have commented on this during her makeouts with Stefan), they can get injured and bleed (but heal immediately), and they sleep! The two most beautiful highschoolers in the world, vampire Stefan (Paul Wesley) and human Elena (Nina Dobrev), are newly in love. They both wake up in extremely chipper moods and spend their history class dopily gazing at each other. We find out that they spent the previous night at Elena’s house (after she invited him in, of course) talking about life and literature, but there was no hanky-panky involved. (more…)

Season 1, Episode 1: “Pilot”
Original airdate: 9/10/09

First and foremost, I am a huuuuuge Twilight fan. I’ve read the books a hundred gajillion times. I feel like I should let everyone know that straight off. Secondly, I also freaking love the show “True Blood,” although I’ve only read book one of that series. Thirdly, although I am far too old for any of it, I love cheesy teenage dramas. I didn’t know what to expect of the new CW show “The Vampire Diaries,” since it seemed like we already have enough vampires in pop culture lately, but I knew that, if nothing else, I would enjoy its cheesiness. And episode one did not disappoint in that department. (more…)
